This wiki assignment is what I like to call a "What if" writing assignment. I will give you a specific "what if" scenerio and you will have to respond not only with an answer, but also explain why you chose your answer. So please take time to read the scenerio, think about your answer, write a draft, make corrections and then respond using the discussion feature on your group page.

What if your principal arrived to your classroom and told you that your teacher would be attending a conference in January and you could pick the substitute for the day! You could pick anyone in the world as long as he/she is a "real" person (no cartoon, movie, book characters). How awesome would that be!! Of course there would be a little "hitch", you also have to convince your principal why this person, in your opinion, would be the best substitute for your classroom. So, for example you might pick a political figure such as President Obama (the 44th President of the United States) or Mr. Jake Oliviera (member of the Ludlow School Committee), an entrepeneur such as Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook) or Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft), a sports figure such as Tom Brady (Patriot's Quarterback) or Michael Phelps (Olympic Gold Medal swimmer), a Nobel Prize winner such as Nelson Mandela or Toni Morrison, a movie star such as Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) or Anne Hathaway (The princess Diaries), a singer such as Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, another educator such as Mrs. Zima (Vets) or Mr. Penti (Blueberry) or perhaps a family member such as your mom, dad, grandparent, etc.

So just to review, your assignment is to decide the person (it can be any person-- DO NOT LIMIT YOURSELF TO MY SUGGESTIONS) you think would be the best substitute for the day, identify that person and explain what he/she does and then defend your choice by writing why you think this person should be chosen, by giving specific examples. Please remember that these writing assignments should be written in essay form ( that means more than one or two sentences) and that you need to use correct punctuation and check for proper spelling.
